What is a Licensed NLP Practitioner Certification?

What is an NLP Practitioner? NLP Practitioner Qualification.
What is a licensed NLP Practitioner?

In this post we go through some of the questions people have about NLP, including:

  • What is an NLP practitioner and a licensed NLP practitioner?
  • What are the benefits of 1:1 NLP training?
  • How can I choose a practitioner?
  • How can I choose a trainer?
  • How can I become certified?
  • What are NLP practitioner qualifications?

With our unique 1:1 NLP Practitioner Training, you can become a licensed Practitioner certified by NLP Co-founder Richard Bander and the SNLP.

What is a Practitioner?

An NLP Practitioner has reached a basic standard of NLP expertise, as certified by one of the NLP certification bodies, and usually is competent to offer NLP coaching and change work. NLP coaching and change work can help you achieve many objectives and overcome many blocks that may be holding you back.

NLP certification bodies include:

  • The Association for Neuro-Linguistic Programming (ANLP),
  • The American Board of NLP (ABNLP),
  • The Society of NLP (SNLP), and
  • The Professional Guild of NLP.

However, a licensed Practitioner is certified by the SNLP and NLP co-founder Richard Bandler to have reached a highly competent standard in NLP.

The investment to become an NLP Practitioner ranges from just £14 for a course on Udemy through £2100 for our own 1:1 practitioner training, to several thousand pounds for some courses. There is a significant difference in the quality of practitioner training, which is not necessarily indicated by the cost. Do your own due diligence. Udemy may be a great starting point for some, but it’s only a starting point.

What are the suggested criteria for choosing an NLP Practitioner?

Choosing an NLP Practitioner?
Choosing an NLP Practitioner? – You may not want to become a practitioner yourself, but you may want to use their services.

Not everyone wants to train as an NLP Practitioner themselves. They might not have the time or the budget, or they simply are not interested. They may, however, want to benefit from working with a Practitioner as they progress in their lives and careers. A good NLP Practitioner can help transform your life, and you need to choose carefully. Here are our suggestions to help you.

Suggested criteria in choosing a practitioner:

  • How long have they been practising? It’s a generalisation, but usually, the more experience they have, the better experience you’ll have.
  • What is their NLP Practitioner accreditation body? We prefer practitioner certificates countersigned by NLP co-founders Richard Bandler or John Grinder.
  • What is their previous experience and the area in which they work? Direct experience in the area where you want help is valuable.
  • Do they offer free taster or discovery sessions so that you can make up your own mind?
  • What is your gut and intuitive reaction to them? Do you trust them? Would you enjoy working with them? This can make a real difference.
  • Do you have a recommendation from someone you trust who has used them before?

What are the suggested criteria for choosing an NLP Practitioner training programme?

Choosing your NLP Trainer
Choosing your Trainer

It’s not unknown for people who have experienced NLP as clients to become so fascinated by what they can achieve that they want to become a Practitioner themselves. As before, choosing your trainer should be something you do very carefully.

Our checklist for trainers:

  • How long has the trainer been training? The more experience they have, the better for you.
  • What’s their accreditation body? We prefer practitioner certificates countersigned by NLP co-founders Richard Bandler or John Grinder.
  • What’s the length of the programme? Like a martial art, the longer you train, the more you learn.
  • What is the trainer’s background and the background and experience of their clients/delegates?
  • Do you prefer face-to-face or group online or 1:1 online?  1:1 is more expensive but works really well for the right clients.
  • Are there free taster or discovery sessions so that you can make up your own mind?
  • What is your gut and intuitive reaction to them? Do you trust them? Would you enjoy working with them? This can make a real difference.
  • Do you have a recommendation from someone who has trained with them before?

What is the advantage of 1:1 NLP training?

We offer certified 1:1 NLP practitioner training over six months, which isn’t for everyone, but is very the best training for those that like the format. We offer three free discovery sessions so you can test it for yourself. We offer this training worldwide.

What are the advantages of this format?

  • You’ll spend time to clarify what will make the programme useful to you, we’ve found this significantly increases how much you’ll benefit when you’ve completing it.
  • The programme is tailored to what you, individually, want to achieve, as well as giving the highest NLP skills.
  • We’re there when things go wrong, and we’ll help you find the best way of moving forward – this often provides the best learning
  • Success is very much about establishing great habits, it’s easier to do this over six months compared to the normal eight day course.
  • You can start when you want to start!
  • Our programmes are certified by NLP co-founder Richard Bandler, who personally signs successful delegates certificates. This is your guarantee of the quality of the training.

How do you become a really good practitioner?

  • Have a purpose that benefits you and a purpose that’s bigger than you (you get something out of the role yourself, and you contribute to something more significant).
  • Look after yourself, learn how to attract clients, and treat your NLP learning as a lifelong journey.
  • Select the clients you choose to work with, and please remember you’ll learn a great deal from them.
  • Have an attitude of curiosity (you want to learn), ambition (you’re determined to help your clients), courage (you sometimes work outside your comfort zone), discipline (we all need a degree of discipline to succeed) and openness (seek feedback and ideas to improve).
  • Be clear about your ethical boundaries.

How do you become qualified to certify other NLP Practitioners?

The details depend on your NLP Association. However, the usual route is becoming a certified Practitioner, Master Practitioner, and then a trainer. Always check with your certification body as to which certificates are accepted.
